We will always love you Jessie

What a very sad day it has been here. A sad couple of days actually. Little Jess has left us and gone to Heaven.

In between Christmas and New Year, Jess got really sick. We went to the Vet and she was given injections and we had medication to give her at home. She did get better, but was never 100%.

Yesterday we were talking about her and very concerned as she was hardly eating or drinking, and when she did eat she was vomitting a lot of it back up. She was also hiding a lot, which we all know isn't a good sign.

As Russ and I were talking I noticed something was wrong with her eyes. Russ picked her up and she had pus oozing out of them. I cleaned them up and Russ rushed her to the Vet.

He returned with bad news. Poor Jessie's liver was failing. Her gums & tongue were yellow, which are the obvious signs of jaundice. We had no idea. And the pus coming out of her eyes was the worst sign of all.

We had no other option. Jess was suffering. The Vet gave her some pain relief so Russ could bring her home for one last night.

This afternoon I took some photos of her, and Caitlin and I gave her plenty of love. William really doesn't understand what's happened, and that's ok, one day he will.

Russ returned from the Vet devasted. I took Jessie from him, and Caitlin had a nurse too. Then the kids helped Russ dig her grave. Caitlin made a card to put in with her, and we also put in her favourite toy.

Jess has given us 10 great years. She was such a character and even though we are all so sad right now, I am so glad she was part of our lives for as long as she was.

Huggs to you sweet, I am so sorry for your loss.
Jess was a beautiful girl and will remain in your hearts for many years to come...
As hard as it is to loose them, you wouldn't trade the love and the joy they give while they are here, unfortunately it is only for a short time, but boy do that pack heaps into those years.
Take care
